Don't be shy about this. When I was in school there were MANY times I and my mother had to go to the dean of residential life and let them know that there were specific NEEDS AND REQUIREMENTS that they needed to comply with. folione is absolutely right. You are a PAYING customer and your health, no matter how much they may belittle it, IS A BIG DEAL. Have your doctor write a letter, go see the dean in person, HAVE YOUR MOTHER CALL.

Honestly, I would not have gotten the things I needed had my mother not gotten involved and been my advocate. I needed her help and I am glad she was there to assist. Those living conditions do not sound acceptable. Be adamant. Don't be afraid. Speak up! I know its hard sometimes but ya gotta do it!! Keep up the good work!

i second what musclemania said about having your mom get involved if necessary. sometimes for me it was such a pride issue--i felt like i was 22 years old and i need my MOM to call for me?! but as soon as she did and kicked some serious a-s-s i got what i needed so it was totally worth it!

Wow I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I used to be in residence life and my daughter has CF so I know both worlds. I agree that you should get a doctor's note, visit the disability services office and the health center. Someone at the health center should know what CF is and be able to educate the director of RL. Do you mind my asking where you go to school? I am really surprised that you have been given such a hard time. If you do not get anywhere with RL I agree that you and your mom should contact the Dean of Students. My guess is that once they are all educated on the needs of someone with CF you will have an easier time dealing with them.

Good luck!
