College Roommate....

So I'm getting a new college room mate and I'm kinda nervous! I've always had my own room and it will be nice to have company but I don't know how to explain my bathroom habits to her. I have CF so I poop. A lot. And it smells. A LOT. I've never really been embarrassed about it before but I've also never lived with someone who didn't know me well before! Has anyone ever had to share a room/bathroom with someone they didn't know very well? How did you explain the time you spent in there and the smells coming outta there?!

I've only had to share a bathroom when I was in the dorm and so when I did that I tried to just go when no one else was in there. But obviously that wont work in your case, I did share a bathroom with a complete stranger who was my roommate for a semester though, all I told her was that I had CF and didn't really explain my toilet issues with her. I tried to go when she wasn't going to be in the room, it was more like an apartment...it was easy cause we had opposite class schedules. Maybe you will get lucky and it will workout that for you!

If not and you are really worried and want to explain it to her then what I would do is maybe give her one of those guides they have at the CF clinic...they usually give them to elem school teachers, its a basic guide to CF.

By college we are all mature, atleast most of us, are mature enough to handle these issues without being childish. Just tell her that sometimes you get really bad stomach aches and might have to use the restroom a lot and just make sure you always have Febreeze on hand. I don't think you will have a problem, you are probably just over analyzing and worrying too much.

Hope this helps!

Hi there,

I don't know if this will help or not, but I have found that this bathroom spray works wonders for me to cover up bad bathroom odors.

Hello!

I live with 3 other people (they all know I have CF, so that makes doing treatments and everything easier) but luckily we've been able to all have a great realationship! We definitely have lots of air freshener, but also, the way I feel is, it's a bathroom <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> So I may take some more time in there than other people - and use the air freshener more. Courtesy flushes go a long way too. I know I'm not being too helpful, but feel free to message me at any point!
