Thanks Jazzysmom - that it a great idea, I never thought about going direct to the center & bypassing the dr. Luckily, our insurance does not require the referral. God you guys are great, I wonder why it took me so long to speak up in here.

Thanks again - God Bless all of you and your families.

I will let you guys know what happens.

I'm so glad you found us here. I hope you can get the answers you need for your children. The genetic test really is the only way to be sure.

Just to follow up - I spoke with her GI doc - and she agreed to have the full panel run on her. I basically broke down on the phone, I pleaded the facts to her: the fact that her tears drying up white on her face is not normal, the extremely distended belly is becoming more and more disturbing, and her chronic sinus problems are not being caused by allergies, and are not being helped by allergy medicine.
I explained that I cannot possibly take her to another "specialist" without being completely 100% sure that we are not looking at CF. She agreed and gave me a slip to have the full panel run, CF Complete. I then called Quest prior to taking her, to go over EXACTLY what the test being requested consists of.
If not for you guys here - I would have never thought to do that. Nor would I have followed through like that.
I will let you all know the results of it - they should be in any day now.
I especially want to be sure to tell you guys -b/c her sweat was so low (11), but her symptoms cry out the possibility of CF.
Another think I wanted to ask you all, in relation to enzymes; do they help / aid with distended bellies? If so - are they prescription only - or can they be purchased over the counter? And what/ if any, are possible side effects? I am also going to ask the doc - but wanted to ask you first.

combo,

GREAT for you in being so proactive and "pushy"! It's unfortunate but I think "pushy" is the only way to get what you truly want out of the medical community.

Hopefully, your little one will not have CF but if she does, enzymes may be prescribed if she is pacreatic insufficient (PI). A distended belly is often a sign of malnurishment and a lot of CFers have it. Enzymes may help to a point but they may not. Some folks have noticed more bloating with cerain foods so they stay away from those. With DS we haven't found the magic "bullet" so he typically has a very distended belly (which he hates!).

Welcome and here's hoping you aren't around long <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
