Compressors

That's a good idea, Chris, and now you've got me considering this -- getting the Invacare model for home use, and then use my Devilbiss as back up for trips and such. They really need to build compressors for high-use and with CF'ers in mind.

I remember my first compressor lasted me probably a good 10 years. I didn't do my treatments as often then but I still got a good 5 years out of it when i stepped up and became compliant. Now I go through one a year sometimes less. They just aren't made to stand up to our abuse.

I'm glad I saw this because I was thinking of getting the Ultra II for my trip to Europe but I won't spend the money now!

We have two ways to go with this...tell the manufactures to build "CF Tested" compressors, or we make our own company! LOL!

I think with today's technology, they can build a product for durability and efficiency...but they should just toss out the "lightweight" idea cause lightweight and durability just don't mix!
How many CF'rs just put the compressor in one spot?
How many CF'rs always put the compressor away?
If it's within a reasonable weight, I think we can manage with a little "bulkiness", can we?
Perhaps a little bit of noise is ok, too...but then there's more than one way to build a compressor! (Ok, maybe only four ways, "rotating impellers" and three differenty type of "Piston-diaphram" methods.
However, in order to avoid having to change compressors every year or so, the manufactures need to listen to our "special case" in usage!

I am not sure that the amount of meds we neb are truly tested on any compressors. I mean really.....albeuterol, pulmicort, HTS, Tobi, Colistin etc twice a day (OR MORE); 365 days a year.

I think not hence nothing now adays to hold up!
