I'm so glad I'm not the only one confused about poop issues. It just seems to change from day to day. Sometimes she's straining to get it out and sometimes, she's running to the bathroom 3 times a day. I find it frustrating because I can't figure out if she's getting enough enzymes (she's on the highest dosage for her age) or if she needs to have something help her poop. She's such a sweetheart because she never complains about it, she's just used to it.
I really hope she grows out of the big belly stage, as she gets older I worry it's going to be an issue of insecurity. Maybe as she gets older she'll be able to tell me what excactly is going on in her little body and we will be able to regulate better.

Our daughter is almost 2 and also has a very big belly. She was born with MI and I often wonder if that doesn't still haunt us. She also flip flops between constipation and greasy stools.

It is so frustrating!!! We are thinking about changing enzymes to see if that wouldn't help. She eats the most healthy diet of any kid I know so maybe we jsut need to find the right enzyme.

We are praying for wisdom. Because it is so hard when she is constipated and crying trying to have a bowel movement. Or when she does so well eating and then it all goes down the toliet (LITERALLY:frown

What are some of the enzymes others with big bellies are on? Maybe there is a wierd connection that we mom's can figure out together.

Sorry nothing to help- only sypathizing with you all. A pop-belled girl is cute at 2, not so cute at 5 or 6 specially when they have the thin lean arms and legs to go with that figure.

Have a blessed day

DS has a bit of a pot belly, but usually doesn't have discomfort. He's a big snacker, so his stools do fluctuate in terms of floaty, color, consistency, greasy, bunny poop...

I seem to recall when plain old Pancrease (not the MTs) was discontinued, If you look at the different enzyme labels, there was a vast difference in the amount of lipase, etc., The closest combination was pancreacarb. Some people have had issues with Ultrase and have done better on creon... Just depends upon the person.

DS is 4 and I think within the past year or so, we've finally figured out the number of Pancrease MT4s that work for him. Although it drives me nuts that it can't be a more exact science instead of look at his poop and figure it out from there.

And don't get me started on plain old constipation issues, which we had when DS started whole milk, poop holding, meconium equivalent, --- loose stools yet still having poop backed up in the colon...

Our son has done better on Pancreacarb compared to Creon. I believe the sodium biacarbonate in them helps keep the acid down. He never has gas anymore. But we always tend to go the loose stool route if things are off...so I'm not familiar with signs of constipation.

All kids have a buddha belly until about the age of 3 though so it is so hard to know what is abnormal and what is just kid belly.

The only other thing that crosses my mind would be a hidden food allergy or yeast over-growth in the digestive track -- both can cause bloating and water retention in the abdomen.
