Confused about something.

Hi!
The nurse just told me that I am NPO (no food by mouth)...already. I am getting my PICC line placed tomorrow morning at 9 am and I'm getting some, err, sedative type drugs (Versed is the only one i know of)...but I thought you needed 6 hours of not eating...not a whole freaking day! I want my lunch.
Does this sound about right?

Andrew can always eat until midnight the night before his picc placement. Could you have misunderstood,,,or your nurse mispoke? It might be worth a call back to clinic. That's a long time with no food!

When Adam used to do sedation for the picc he was always npo after midnight as well.

Now he does not like to get sedated and they just numb the area and he is done.

Emily's been sedated 3 times for various procedures (twice was 'conscious sedation' w/ Versed & Propofol- perhaps what you will have), and she's never had to go more than 12 hours.
