constipation

My daughter is 3.5 and has never had issues with constipation. She is PI and before she started enzymes she would go 3-4 times a day. On the Creon, she has been going once a day for the past 9 months. 2 weeks ago she did not go for 3 days. The nurse at the CF center told me to give miralax twice a day for 2 days. I ended up giving her a suppository because she kept complaining that she had to go and it hurt when she tried. I continuted the mirlax for another week as they suggested and all was well. I stopped it last week and now again she hasn't gone since monday and said she had to go 3 times but couldn't. I re-started the miralax. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas as to why this is happening all of a sudden?? I don't want to have to give her miralax every day!

Not to alarm you, but you might have her checked out a little further to ensure she doesn't have an obstruction or a psuedo obstruction forming. Take her in and ask if they can do some intestinal x-rays at least.

my dd is more or less chronically constipated, although not to the extent that you are describing. I give her organic papaya purée (30g) every day for that. I found it worked as well as miralax.

She had a normal BM Monday night and is not at all uncomfortable. Her appetite is normal as well. She really doesn't have any signs of obstruction.
