corrosive effects of salt

So, I dropped my bicycle off at fix-it shop at the beginning of the week because the odometer was broken. At the time they said it looked like the wiring needed to be replaced. After further investigation, they say that "the wiring and several screws have been completely destroyed by what looks like the effects of extremely salty sweat." In my CF day, I have ruined many tennis racket handles, golf club grips, even car steering wheels. Basically, if i'm in the sun, and i'm holding it, it's going to get ruined. I have the un-midas touch. I wonder what would happen if I got my hands on a bar of gold.

I realize the trivial nature of this post, but just had to share, cuz you guys are the only folks who MIGHT appreciate this sort of thing!

Yep. I hear you. It's kind of like being a slug... leaving a trail of dried ooze behind you. I have to clean my computer mouse/keyboard nearly daily. And I can always tell which glass is mine b/c my fingerprints are so obvious with their salty residue. Not to mention what it does to guitar/viola strings. And watchbands. Oh the number of those that I've gone through. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
