Cost of IVF with CF father

I am 31 and currently dating someone, 29 with CF. I will be opening up an HSA account soon, so I have the opportunity to save money tax free to pay for any health related expenses. Since my bf and I plan on getting married and trying for children, I was wondering how much money I need to save up. I have heard that IVF in healthy individuals (without CF) can be $10-15k. So I'm wondering how much more it would be since the father has CF.

Anyone mind sharing their experience? I know it varies a lot by insurance company, but I just thought I'd ask.

I've not been tested yet. That is in the plan, but as I said, we're not planning on trying for some time. I'm just trying to plan ahead and have an idea of the cost. When I save money, I like to have goals - it helps me to have an idea ahead of time.

For example, if I will need at least $20k, and I have three years to save, then I will have to contribute $555/month. I know it'll never be an exact number, I was just looking for a broad range. Even if the range is $15k to $30k. But money is a very personal topic and I understand if people are not comfortable talking about that on a public forum.

Hi,

Like you said, a lot depends on your insurance... Also, it can depend on what state you live in. For example, my husband and I live in Illinois where you are covered for IVF 100% if you are infertile and have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of IL insurance - no questions asked.
