I have a few questions, Ashton has had a little cough during the day and a major thick light green runny nose. Last night at about 3AM he started coughing this tight cough sometimes it sounded like maybe some mucous. I let him do this for about 45min laying in his room with him and he just wouldnt stop. SO i took him downstairs and at 3:45 did a breathing tx and his vest for 20 min his cough then went away but of course he didnt want to go to sleep because of the albuterol but thats besides the point. this morning at about 6:45 he started coughing again on our way to daycare. they will be doing a treatment there as well.. but hes never coughed this hard and for that long. im beginning to wonder maybe an infection i know his last CX had MRSA and H Flu but no pseudomonas. Im just wondering and typing this tiredly!! the cough didnt sound like drainage down the back of his throat as is wasent junky sounding. his lungs sounded good. shoudl i give it soem time or go ahead and call. i know that i probably know the answer but just want others experience. since we have the new bugs growing im just a little curious.. also about 2 weeks ago he was on cipro.

I would call his CF clinic and let them know what is going on. Both of my girls have MRSA, but only one tends to have problems with it. And when she does have a flare up, she has a lot of extra cough. Our CF doc usually wants increase in CPT, and sometimes an oral antibiotic added to the mix and then we go from there.
Hope he's feeling better soon<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

hi christi,
i would call your clinic and tell them what is going on and see what they say. sometimes i think it is hard to know sometimes (even after 6 years) if blake just has a virus like any other child or he has an infection or the beginings of one. we usually start blake on his oral anti's and do extra physio and then if it is getting worse we let them know and take it from there. and sometimes it clears up after a couple of days because it has just been some virus he has had. This just made me think of how good it would be to have a daily report of what is exactly going on with our childs health so we could act with certainty instead of having to guess What is this cough? is it moist, dry? is it an infection? oh to have a crystal ball. lol . i hope that Ashton is getting better and that you have had some sleep!
cheers leigh

I went ahead and Emailed the CF center this morning. Ashton woke up again around 5AM coughing and couldnt stop.. He didnt cough a whole lot durning the day yesterday but his poor nose is very thick and gren. sorry yucky i know! He has cultured a few new bugs so i dont want to sit around to long on it! Hes not running a fever and is playing ok the only thing is he is being a picky eater and he usually isnt theres only about 3 things he will eat right now and one of them isnt PIZZA which was his FAVORITE!!! Im hoping it is just a virus and im willing to watch it if thats what the doc wants so we will see.. It seems like about 2 weeks after he finishes antibiotics he get sick again.. I kind of want to try and avoid them for as long as possible because he got thrush from them last time. SO we will see what they say!
