<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>This is a stressful time of year for a lot of us. While we have people who let us know if they're under the weather, we do have issues with others showing up sick and then my MIL concerned that we won't show up and telling us "it's 'just' a cold". We've since indicated if this happens and it's not just a cold -- once my niece had pneumonia and was helping to feed DS while my inlaws were babysitting -- we've said that we will leave.</end quote></div>
Perfect example of what we have to go through due to other people making their illness our problem. That is so inconsiderate (to put it nicely)... way before we ever knew Emily had CF I would never had taken one of my kids out in public, never mind a gathering where we'd all be in close quarters- with something like pneumonia. That is just WRONG. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0"> *end rant*

We had this same exact issue this year!. We decided this year that we were not leaving the house so that the kids could actually play with their toys and not have to rush out the door. So somehow this turned into me making dinner and having everyone at our house..which is fine. I don't mind but my house is a little small for 25 people..lol somehow we managed. Anyways, my neice was in the ER on monday night with Asthma attacks. I couldn't really get a straight answer on what was wrong with her. My MIL said that the respiratory therapist said she has RSV. but said that they never actually tested her for it. So we kept going back and forth with whether she should come or not. We just had a 3 day stay at the hospital for Trevor with RSV. So I definatly dont want him to get sick. But at the same time I dont want to responsible for my Sister in law and neice missing christmas with everyone either. Its a hard situation!

I know what you mean. We went to Christmas and it turns out my niece wasn't even really coughing but my brother-in-law did have a cold... he had thought it was allergies but it wasn't. So I guess we will wait and see with Maggie. Everyone stayed away from her though. I guess since a lot of this are new at this we will eventually grow a thicker skin and not feel so much guilt about our decisions. at least I hope...
