Is your little one on any nebs? The vest might not be working well enough if the airways are constricted!

Has there been a bit change in weather? Could it be allergy related? Has she had an allergy testing done?

Sometimes you need to look past the typical CF care that doctors administer to find the trigger!

Hi
My daughter is 4 and baseline no cough also. When she would get a cold (seldom) she would usually have a lingering cough for 1-2 months after. It has always gone away. The docs always say to increase treatments for a while. It just seems to linger a bit, then finally goes away.
Ever since my infant came home (at least around that time) my 4 year old has had a cough. I keep telling the clinic about it and they just keep telling me to increase treatments for a week. While at my infants appt I wanted my other daughter to be cultured too, but they said I would need to do a visit for her to be cultured. Her visit is not until Oct 13th. My infant cultured for Pseudos, so I am worried my 4 year old may have that also??
Maybe I should call the doc to see if she should be cultured sooner considering the infant has cultured bacteria?
I hear ya! Is her cough at certain times of day or all day long? How often/bad is it? I would def ask your clinic for a culture if she has not had one already. Also about nebs if she is not on any...that would def help!
Hope her cough gets better! Good luck!

I mentioned this before that when DS was a couple months old he'd cough so hard that he'd throw up his formula. I'd have to hold him over sinks, floor drain... I asked his doctor at the two month well child appointment who was also head of the local cf program. He heard the cough and commented that "it's what they do, they cough".

DS was on keflex, we were already doing 4 cpt neb treatments a day... A few weeks later we went in for a recheck at the cf clinic in the city and pretty much got yelled at because DS had bronchitis and didn't we know he could've ended up back in the hospital. We were told we needed to learn his cough and to me it DID sound like a chesty bronchial cough.

I KNEW in my gut that something was wrong, DH and I argued about it because "the local doctor said he was fine"

So they ran a culture and he had some sort of enterbactor choclae bug common in nicus. Was put on several antibiotics and was fine in a few days.

A few years ago DS came down with a cold, no fever, was more tired and had a sporadic cough -- we wondered how he could be sick because he was on keflex, zithromax and tobi. At that time he got put on another abx for a few weeks. IMO, contact the doctor and indicate this has been going on long enough.

I would push for a chest X-ray and culture too. Last Fall we went through 3 rounds of oral anti's and then they admitted him for 2 weeks IV antis.. He cultured Haemophilus influenzae (H flu). Didnt find that out til after he was admitted. If they would have cultured him earlier maybe we could have tried something else.

Logan has started coughing again too and his baseline is no cough to very little cough. It is wet sounding and I am getting a little worried but we have increased his treatments like they always tell us and I will watch it. Right now its random throughout the day increasing at night. He had 2 chest X-rays, antibiotics and prednisone in August I was hoping we were good for a bit

Our CF clinic always wants us to see the Primary doc 1st. I know they are busy but we know our kids, right? Last night the nurse from the CF clinic dropped something by our house and heard him cough so if he keeps it up I will be calling them first for sure!

Ashmomo - (since we go to the same clinic )I'm suprised they didnt culture her..I would see if you can get in sooner.. Logan has his appt on October 5th hoping he gets before that.
