Could acid reflux cause me to have no voice

I am beginning to wonder if my lack of voice, severe voice strain etc is from acid reflux.. I was recently on a very high dose of Pred for quite a while, I got sick flying home from NJ and I have not been better since then..

I have gone from bad cough, sinus infection, no voice, and I go round and round with it.. I was almost totally better and then today I woke up with NO VOICE again...

I am wondering if my reflux is buring my throat because it is way worse in the morning... not that my voice ever fully comes back but it does slightly improve as the day goes on.

It is hard to tell if I feel sick or just am really tired, I have had a really bad, busy and crazy week at work.. so I am totally drained but I think I would be anyway... so what I am wondering is has anyone ever had their reflux burn their vocal chords?

I am on Prevacid everyday for my acid refulx and I know that in the past I have had accounts where when my A.R. was acting up big time it would give me a sore throat and cause me to lose my voice.

So I would think it can.

Hi, yes acid reflux can definitely cause you to lose your voice. It can cause anywhere from hoarseness, to totally losing your voice from the acid traveling up. I have pretty bad acid reflux and take Nexium everyday. I'm also a G.I. nurse so I see this all the time <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I'm going to ask my CF doctor if I can take something else for the reflux because it's obviously not under control. So that could definitely be why you're losing your voice. The other possibility could be if you take Tobi because that causes hoarseness as well.
