have the full panel done if it makes u feel better or are concerned. but its likely that its a virus.
my lo had a really bad case of croup 2 mos ago-i caught myself thinking the same thing...does she have cf??? (she was full panel tested at birth though)
here's what the doc said,
babies chests cavities have alot more hollow space than ours, so when they cough it sounds alot worse than it is. rule of thumb, as long as the doc doesn't hear congestion from mucus-its ok and it will pass.
when i tell u she was sick, my god was she ever. we didn't sleep for over a week for fear of her. be sure to keep morgan hydrated, haley!!!
we ended up in the ER w my lo at the tail end of this cold bc for2 days she wouldn't look at us, and barely opened her eyes. she got so weak she couldn't eat. it was very scary.
just remember it sounds alot worse than it actually is, use vaporizers all over your house-the steam ones that shoot out purified air. my mom and mil suggested sitting with her in a hot steamy bathroom for 15 mins and-believe it or not-going on the porch in the cold for a few mins alternating. it helps their lungs.
wanted to add-
the docs bounced around my lo having either croup or rsv....she was coughing her head off so i think it was more like croup. anyway, they said that there is no treatment for rsv, so to put her through the test was basically pointless when they'd treat it like they treat any other cold or virus.
