COURTNEY'S SICK- UPDATED

When Lauren was in the hospital she developed a pretty bad cough.

I brought it up to the docs and told them I was very concerned because I had a daughter at home with CF and did not want to take any "bugs" home to her. They would not listen to me and told me everything would be fine.

WELL.....Courtney is home from school today and can not stop coughing. It is a deep, constant cough. We have a doc appointment this afternoon and I am praying she will not be admitted. No fever, just a REALLY bad cough.

The good thing in all of this is I called her high school to talk about her attendance. If you miss more than 5 days per semester you lose your credits. Well, I found out this school has a program for chronically ill children. If they miss more than 3 days of school they bring a teacher to the home and teach them! This sounds like a WONDERFUL program. I DO NOT want Courtney to get behind in high school. She is a really good student and I don't want her grades to slip.

I will update when we get home from her doctor's appointment.

I am so sorry Courtney is under the weather. I can't believe that the Docs would let that slip. When My older son got pneumonia Garran's Doc went ahead and put Garran on meds too just in case.

Most states have a IEP plan. I believe it is called, for school for education. You just have to set it up at the beginning of the school year and they know that when ever she is in the hospital etc that she will be out and to send work home etc.. and not to count it against her. She isnt on the year round school system is she? I think they call it the homebound school program here but not sure, we havent had to use it, since Garran is only going in 1st grade, they just sent his work home last year in kindergarden and I did it with him when he was ill.

I hope everything works out and she doesnt have to be admittted! Keep us posted!
