Croup

Is re-occuring croup normal with CF? I have read a lot of posts about pneumonia, but none about croup. She has never had pneumonia. Also, she has had one bad episode of a gastro infection where she had severe diarhhea for several days which eventually causes dehydration. The dr's all told me it was a virus, specifically the EBV virus.

Do you ever see a green mucus from the nose or mouth? How is her weight gain and growth? If you don't give her a bath for a day or two, or if she is super sweaty, does she taste like salt?

Those are good signs to look for that should throw up some major red flags in addition to what you have already mentioned.

I have no expertise with croup, and I have never come across anything that suggests a strong correlation between it and CF. However, I could see how croup might look similar to a pulmonary exacerbation with CF, so it does make sense to me that your doctor wants to investigate the possibility that the symptoms might be CF related.

What is this: pulmonary exacerbation with CF.

Madi's weight gain has been fine.. she is 15 months and 23 pounds. She initially lost the first 2 weeks after birth, but then gained and kept gaining.
I wouldn't say she is sweaty after a day or two without a bath, but she does sweat on her head at night time. As far as her tasting salty, I just checked her and she tastes normal to me. My dr said to lick her when she is sweating and I did and of course that tasted salty.
