My daughter is 11 years old (12 in August) and is presently taking 1475mg (split into 2 doses) per day. We are basically following the mice model (45mg/kg/day) with each capsule having 295 mg curcumin. We use the Solaray brand and it is fairly inexpensive (we purchase on-line to get better prices). We do not use any of the enhancers that some people suggest (i.e. piperine, etc.).
As far as improvement in lung function - that would be hard to say because my daughter has not had any pulmonary problems as of yet. I know alot of the early results of the curcumin trials state that it does not help lung function. But, like her physician has said - overall nutritional status does influence pulmonary function. Another wonderful result since Curcumin is the fact that her liver enzymes have been normal for 8 months now. Prior to Curcumin she had elevated liver enzymes and "fatty liver" as a result of all the pancreatic enzyme use. But, she is off the pancreatic enzymes and her liver function is normal.
My daughter is double delta F508. There is a on-line support group for people using curcumin if you are interested in speaking to others who are trying or thinking of trying curcumin. The group is curcuminforcf @yahoo groups.com
