I know you are worried sick but at first I thought maybe the City called because they are "reading reports" and relying on the questionable local center, if that makes sense. In other words, they haven't seen anything themselves to make an opinion with. I guess they've seen the xray, though? On a CD? Hmmm. I'm still not convinced they have the full picture.

A CT scan will ultimately tell all, and with how proactive you are with your precious DS you are doing everything right. I will be sending the warmest wishes your way and hoping that all goes well. Hugs and try not to worry.

Dawned on me the middle of the night that DS' local clinic ONLY sent a copy of the xray report and cd -- they failed to send the doctor's notes from his well child visit, which would've indicated he was just there for a 5 year check up, shot and that his vitals, were all fine. They also didn't include any of his lab work or cultures.

So the CF doctor in the city was thinking he was sick, had pneumonia 'cuz 2 weeks after the xrays were taken he received ONLY the cd and radiology report. The message on my answering machine at home was "has his upper respiratory infection cleared up".

I spoke to DH who is out of town and we decided to drive to the City (250 miles) and get the CT scan done, then we're to walk over with the films to his doctor. Meanwhile I'd left a message with the local CF doctor indicating that his doctor in the City wanted a CT scan and at the time I was thinking it would be easier/quicker to just have it done locally. The nurse assured me yesterday that the doctor was in the office and she would give him the message. I waited at my office for a call back -- nada. So maybe this is just a reminder to get our butts in gear and find a different doctor locally.

Liza,

It is so hard to communicate with these clinics, sometimes. IT doesn't need to be this hard. I know you are feeling stressed, but you are doing such a great job with Max. You are right in that the city doc may not be seeing the whole picture of things. Hopefully getting the CT will clear things up. I finally got a response from our CF doc. He thought Maggie's CXR looked fine, thought she was doing well. He would have called her CXR "normal" Course, he was seeing "the whole picture"..her cultures, her labs, weight, her lack of respiratory exacerbations this year, and so on. Communicating with one CF clinic is hard, you are dealing with 2 and trying to get them to collaborate, which the local doc seems less willing. Let us know how things go. Too bad we all couldn't get together for a HUGE glass of wine.

Finally got a call back from a local clinic rep this afternoon indicating that his doctor agreed to a CT scan; however, we're still going to take the trek to the City because if we had it locally, we most likely wouldn't get a response back for another two weeks. Plus I'm not so sure they'd be able to get us in in a timely manner. I seem to recall waiting several weeks to get in for a sinus CT for myself a few years ago.
