It may well be that your child Does not have CF. But I think the DR at the clinic you went to Jumped the gun on deciding that without further testing. With having 1 borderline test and one negative test and respritory issues its obvious that further testing should be done. genetic testing, another sweat test sputum culture. Also a Chest CT sometimes helps. Does your child have GI issues. Yes there are people with severe Alergies, and asthma who stay sick for extended periods of time so it could be just that. I would seek a second opnion at another clinic and demand further testing. And as stated in a previous post,If they wont do that demand it in writing,they may just think twice and test further. I am horrified that they were even asking one another HOW TO DO THE SWEAT TEST at the lab! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0"> That being the case, I would not even entirely trust the results of the test done at that lab. I would definitely seek out another center... unfortunately as posted, all centers are not created alike in terms of quality of care and sadly, you got the short end of the stick today. I am so sorry that this happened.

Even if this dr felt strongly that your son did not have CF, he should have answered all of your questions and been compassionate with you and tried to steer you in the right direction for what COULD be going on. Drs with this kind of attitude make me so angry...

Can you travel to another cf center? Perhaps one in a large center. Then see the center director there. That cf center sounded awful!
