Daughter has swine flu

We just got back from the dr. My 8 yr old with cf has the swine flu. Not surprising, it seems like everyone in coming down with it in Houston. She has had symptoms for a day (101 fever, headache, chills, tired, threw-up, now has a cough). I spoke to her pulmonologist. He said it is concerning, but we just need to keep a close eye on her. She started tami-flu last night. Thankfully, I already had prescriptions. I am more concerned about my 6 yr old with cf. He is just getting over a virus and his small airways have been low in the past few weeks. I started him on tamiflu as well as preventative. So, have any of your kids with cf had it and how did they do???
Sharon, mom of Sophia, 8 and Jack, 6 both with cf, Grant, 8 months no cf

Adam had the flu and when I called pulmo they told me to assume it was swine flu. He ran fever of 104 for about 2 days strait. We started tamiflu on that seemed to help. He stayed out of school for 3 days and went back. He still has a little cough but seems to be back to normal.

His sister caught the flu 3 days after he did as well, but she did not run as high a fever.

Hope she gets over this quickly....

His sister caught the flu 3 days after he did as well, but she did not run as high a fever.

Hope she gets over this quickly....

I am so sorry that your little one has the flu...I will pray for both of your children.....Please keep us posted on how they are doing ... I think it's very important that all of us with little one's with the Flu (which assume it is the H1n1),,keep us informed especially knowing how it attacts the body....

Adam,,I am soooooooo glad you did okay,,,, I'm surprized that you ran a temp of 104for 2 days and wasn't put in the hospital...The guidelines seem to change almost daily though,,,some place's say you are not contagious if you don't run a temp for a full 24 hours (without any fever reducing meds),,and I have heard you can actually be contagious up to 2weeks after the fever is gone..
It is good to hear someone that has CF didn't have severe problems,,thankyou for letting us know...

I do have a question. Does Tamiflu work as a preventative? I thought I had heard it does not?
