hi, just wanted to let you know i'm in california as well, although we go to miller children's hospital in long beach. If you can financially handle not working, their is something called ccs. You can ask your clinic about it. If you make less then 40k a year you qualify, or if you don't have any insurance for your child you qualify. They pay for whatever your insurance doesn't cover, or it can be your primary. You have to have a diagnosis of cf, or another costly medical condition, so only your daughter would be covered. That's an option if you want to stay home. I agree a smaller home daycare would probably be best if you can avoid huge centers with tons of babies/toddlers to pass germs. Even though she doesn't show any symptoms yet, a regular cold can turn in to a major respitory infection. If she is pancreatic sufficient, depending on her mutations, she might only have respitory involvement. My boys are this way, they also come up borderline on the sweat test, confirmed diagnosis with genetics. Some mutations are like that. Anyhow, I found at 3 months old for my baby, and shortly after, he was culturing pseudomonas, had pneumonia and had his first hosptalization. Besides a little rattling, and congestion there were no "symptoms"

I agree with another poster in saying that eventually they have to go to regular school. In the meantime, all you can do is practice good hand hygiene and make sure that whoever cares for them does so, and keeps things as clean as possible. Even if your daughter seems perfectly healthy, the cf can cause the most common bacteria to get stuck in the lungs and cause some issues. If you can't avoid daycare just try to find the cleanest one! Best of luck to you and message me anytime...we are neighbors!

(although the center is trying to avoid germs, you have to pay bills, so don't feel bad if you can't stay at home, lots of moms and dads work and have no other choice!)
