Delta 508 Severity?

I was the same way when DS was diagnosed. Wanted to know what to expect, wanted to be reassured that things won't be so bad. It's hard to predict. We just try remain vigilant with DS's care, be proactive with CPT/Vest, medications, diet, exercise...

for what it's worth...I am ddf508.
I am 39, my most recent pfts were FEV 107%, FEV1 86%.
I have no cf-related diabetes as yet.
I am also aware that others around the same age as me, with the same mutation are not as healthy.
The point is, we're all over the map...

FEV1 is the amount of air blown in 1 second. It's the standard measure for lung function.

The amount of air is compared to what a "normal" person that gender and height would blow, and thus the %.

So Dana's lung function is 86% of what it should be for his height and gender.

Anything above 90% is considered "normal" lung function.
70-90% is considered "Mild" lung disease
50-70% is "moderate" (these #s vary obviously from clinic to clinic, but I think the CFF has it's own standards)
<50% is severe
