I could really use some help!
My daughter Addie (just turned three) has CF and Epilepsy. We filed for disability (supplemental income security) last year and were denied. I appealed and they gave us a hearing, which was this morning. My friend who is a lawyer came with and asked for a postponement, because I didn't have enough time to get all her documentation.
So we have two weeks to hire an attorney, get all paperwork, etc.
My question is this: If you've been through this process, do you have any advice about how to increase our approval for supplemental income. Is there a magic word the judge needs to hear? Our social worker said that kids with CF have a better chance of receiving disability if they have a g-tube. My daughter does not. She's just
around the 25th percentile for weight and height.
Is there a specific topic we should focus on, something that causes the judge to pause before rubber stamping us denied? I would so appreciate any and all help!
And if you have an attorney you worked with in the Los Angeles area who was successful with your appeal, please send that info along too.
Thanks in advance. Elise
