I am wondering for those on disability, what made you realize that it was time to do it?

I have been sick more often than not this past year, but my PFTs are right on the borderline with the disability guidelines (I think). Any advice?

There are 3 criteria they use. One is PFT's.....use of antibiotics on a regular basis for a consistent culture of PA or other.......hospitalizations. That is a nutshell description. I am sure someone else can post the link to a more detailed description. There are many factors you have to figure in. Can you handle a cut in pay? What does your doctor say? Are you ready mentally? Do you feel your health is in great danger?

My doc encouraged me to stop working with children. I wanted to put my health first and stay as far away from needing a transplant as I could for many years hopefully. I was also able to handle the move financially. It can take quite a bit of time to get approved and they encourage you not to work during that time, from what I understand. Not easy to do for most people. I guess their thinking is that if you are working when you apply, you must not really be disabled, ughh!

I couldnt balance life without my health being jeopardized. I did fine during & for about 13 months after my pregnancy. The last few months took its toll trying to work, be a Mom, be a Wife & take care of myself.

I would still have worked had I not had my daughter tho!
