Yes, home IV's are a great idea. Also, what meds are you currrently on? Are you on Hypertonic saline, advair or something similar? Those helped bring my lung function up. Even though you don't feel good, try to get exercise. That is really important for me when I get a cold. Just walking on a treadmill helps loosen everything from my nose & lungs! I am so sorry you do not feel well. That is so frustrating. Really though, I think going on IV's again will help. I had a bad infection last year, went on IV's for 2 weeks, and a month later I was sick again, lung function way down again, etc. So, I did another round of IV's ( all at home-never was admitted), but this time for 4 weeks instead of 2 , and I've been fine ever since. Best of luck to you!

are they ensuring they do a sputum culture to know waht you need to be on? Are you able to get rpoper rest and physiotherapy at home? If you are not that may be hindering your recovery at home and you should aim to get better care while at home.

you may want to PM sunflower from this board, she is alos from Ireland and may have some suggestions for you.

You do have to be aggressive with your treatment even if it means going to the hospital again. Can you talk to your doctors about your concerns reguarding hospital acquired infections? Maybe they can work with you and let you do home IV's again.

In addition to my daily meds I walk on a treadmill for 30 minutes, I do it daily now and it really does help. I also find that doing Hypertonic Saline with the inCourage vest twice a day has been very helpful too (I am doing it as I write this to you<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">). This all helps with keeping my lung function stable.

I hope you can soon work out a plan with your doctor that you will both be happy with. Let us know how it goes. Keeping you in prayer.
