Disinfecting nebs

I wash mine with (regular, not antibacterial) dish detergent (I have a big white plastic mixing bowl I use, so I don't have to worry about how "clean" the sink is ) and then boil them in a big pot on the stove. I also put a lid on them. They boil faster and, if I forget to set the timer, it buys me a few extra minutes before all the water boils out.

I dump them in a big collander (that I use only for them), shake the cup part out while holding the handle and hang them by the handle around the top of the pot, and rattle/shake the rest around in the collander for a few seconds, and dump them back in the pot.

Then I put them on a COLD eye on the stove, and turn on the stove hood fan. If I have forgotten to wash them, and need them fairly quickly, I do all that, wait 15 to 20 mins, and then take the hairdryer and finish drying them. Then I use the "cool shot" on the hairdryer to cool them off.

Hey Mumtokj...thanks for posting the link to the Germ Guardian...I had opened the page and it was up when my husband glanced at the laptop...he looked at it and ordered it on the spot! I'll let you guys know how it works!

If you really want it, I'll bet one of us here could arrange to order it from Target and have it shipped to you. Let us know!

I have been thinking about getting this one right now I have multiple racks all over my counter, one for bottles, one for nebs, and an 'overflow'.

I have the eflow and boil in distilled water for 5 minutes (that is all you need to boil for to kill germs). I used to sterilize my nebs (pari lc plus before I owned the eflow) in the microwave which I loved but Foundation Care said not to put the eflow neb in the microwave so I do it on the range as they suggest because the eflow nebs are so expensive. To replace one, just the plastic pieces (not the head) was something like $150. So I make sure I use a large pot, fill with lots of distilled water, and put on the oven timer once boiling begins so that I do not have the melting of neb problem. The cheapest place for distilled water I found was walmart at 66 cents a gallon.

It would be nice if someone came up with a table top electric timed device specifically for nebs. Maybe someday...it certainly would make life much easier.
