Disinfecting nebs

After each use we wash our neb (eflow) in hot soapy water and then boil in distilled water for 10 minutes. That has worked very well for the last year and a half.

However, this week I completely got sidetracked and melted it to a big smelly mess. (It was almost comicaly the way I ran out of our house with a smoky pan, because the fumes from the melted plastic was making me cough and my eyes burn. I was trying to evacuate our kids and keep our little cfer from smelling any of this aweful smell. Almost funny)

Anyway, just curious if anyone has another method (other than the dish washer, we have a family of 5 and our dishwasher is always full, not to mention it just grosses me out to think of using it for a neb).

We are looking into a baby sterilizer, but I don't know of a good one. My husband said to find the best one out there, becuase we will be using it every day.

If anyone has any ideas let me know please. After calling Foundation Care (where we got our eflow from) they said that most people don't boil their neb parts that often. In light of PA in water, I can't understand why people wouldn't take such a little amount of time to be sure of something that could have such a big consequence.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

You could always fill up the big tupperwear thing that they gave you with alcohol to disinfect.

That's what I did while I was in Paris and didn't have any way to boil my neb parts.

I just cpied and pasted my responce, from the other thread. Hope this helps.

Hi there, has any ever thought of using MILTON its the stuff that smells like chlorine and its used in hospitals and homes for sterilising baby bottles, teets etc.

Juts a thought!

Or even using the microwave steem steriliser for baby bottles, they only take about 2-4 mins max. I would think they should be suitable.

Any thoughts............anyone
