Do CF commercials bother anyone else?

Ok I understand the importance of ads but I did not like them. Personally the deflating thing really freaked me out. i didn't think it got any point across. I agree about the laundry thing, but it looked like she was having an asthma attack and then just deflated. It felt creepy to me and didn't really get much across about what CF is or all the things we must do for it.

I liked the birthday one also. I wish they would do one, however, that shows all the things we do, the medications and treatments.

But I know these will raise more money so that is good i guess

I thought the commercials were also creepy, them deflating to the ground had to be the dumbest thing. The one with the candle was good, but at the end i was waiting for the oxygen to explode from the candle's fire. duh.......
I wish we had commercials in the US, but I would like to see them from more of a positive approach and show how great people can do today and this is because of the money that has been raised for research and how more is still needed if we are going to continue to lengthen the life expectancy. This is not a knock on Boomer at all, cause I know he does alot of appearances for CF, but wouldn't it be nice for his organization or the CFF to air commercials during sunday games, that would really get the message out and get alot of support

Hey guys,
I'm from Canada and I have seen the commercial where the little boy is brushing his teeth and then deflates to the floor symbolizing his death. I realize that CF needs to be put out there so people can be made aware of the severity of it but when I saw this comercial my heart sunk!!! I literally cried because it was so blunt! It isn't as if I haven't come to terms with my cf ..i just think that this commercial was terrible. Like imagine if a young child with cf was watching this. Although they have to face reality some day, I really dont think they should find out how sick they really are and about the future they will have to face from an insensitive commercial. If the CFF airs a more sensitive( but not sugar-coated) commercial it would be beneficial. They just have to be sensitive and concider who their potential audience may be and also do there best to spread awareness. I agree with someone else's point about describing what the disease actually is and does which they have failed to do thus far in cf commercials...sorry to go on so long but i was shocked/surprised(in a good way) to see this forum on commercials cause the little boy brushing REALLy got to me!!

I was not going to comment on these commercials because I have not seen them but after viewing the links to these three I feel inspired to share my personal opinion. I did not like them at all. I am all for public awareness of cf but these commercials are ghastly.

I feel sorry for parents who have just received the diagnosis of cf for their child then view these commercials. I as an adult with cf would not want to be seeing these commercials day in and day out on tv. I can only imagine the impression these commericals must leave on the youth. Now I certainly have faced my mortality and have given one lung in my fight with cf but I am not living my life like I have one foot in the grave or like death is just around the corner. Death will come but I will live every moment up until that point.

We need public awareness that this is a serious disease but one that with proper funding much progress can be made in making this a disease that can be managed. Progress in cf treatment has come a long way and there is hope in the fight against cf but these commercials show no hope. The message I get is put these people out of their misery. This is not a message that inspires me.

To me... these commercials show that there's no hope UNLESS people get aware, donate, and help us out. That's kind of the idea I got. That's the idea most of those types of things show. Cancer kills, but many are surviving because of the donations blah blah. Same idea... only for us, not many people donate, so we're waiting for that boost in order to kick it into gear some. Help us kick it into gear.

That's me. But I'm one of the ones that likes the idea of having these types of commercials fairly widespread. So who knows.

Oh and for showing a more positive view... for me, that doesn't make a lot of sense. I mean really, other than us... what kind of people would be like "Hey, we're living into our THIRTIES now!!!! *shocked smile*" It sounds ridiculous... and that's because it is. We shouldn't be happy to make it to our thirties just because no one knows about the disease and so we get the sh*t end of the stick. It's like we're saying "Well hell, this is all we can get, so we might as well celebrate it." I'm not saying a longer life isn't worth celebrating, but it's not worth praising the public for, when they haven't done much of anything for it. But again... that's me.
