Do the oily stools irritate baby's bottoms while still in diapers?

When DS was in the NICU, the nurses gave us something by baza or sween -- Critic-aid -- it was triple paste primarily used for people with incontinance issues. Stronger than the butt paste you get at target/walmart. It forms a barrier and you pretty much just keep adding to it, until you wash it off. Was kinda gross, but much better that a nasty, red monkey butt.

I never had that with Maeve. Knock on wood, she's never really had a bad rash, or even much of one at all.
There were a couple of times where she had red spots.....I think those were from enzymes coming out whole.
I guess I've been lucky, lets hope it stays that way and good luck with yours <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

My son has had this since birth (red fiery rashes). We've tried everything including RX and what works best is the over the counter "Butt Paste". It goes on really easily and reduces everything right away.

Unfortunatly, it's a bit if trial an error to find what works best for each baby. The NICU gave us 3 different ointments and salves (triple past, bag balm and something used on burn victims) that all make Emily'b but progressively worse. Finally, I smuggled in the Bordeaux's Butt Paste that had worked wonders on her older non-cf sister who used to get bleeding diaper rashes. It cleared up with in days. Shocked the NICU nurses! lol

We did have to do the diaper off under a heat lamp occassionally to hlep things along.

Good luck. It's hard to see them in pain when they are that little! Or, as they get bigger for that matter. Hope it clears up soon.
