I dont think I've had a normal life at all, I think I have been unusually blessed to have an incredibly amazing life, even if it got snuffed out tomorrow in a car wreck (god forbid!). I've done everything from marine bio research off the coast of Belize, to competing in the national championships, to being a mom of two wonderful girls. I dont think it could get much better and I think the CF and its accompanying group of varied health issues, while contributing to a very difficult childhood, has made me a very strong person capable of anything I put my mind to. At times I've hated it, blamed it, cursed it, but it has been so instrumental in creating the person that I am, I now have to embrace it. It has taught me to always, always just go for it, with every fiber of my being. It is part of me and one the greatest journey's I have had is learning to love myself for what I am. Normal life? HELL NO! Way, way better than that!</end quote>
OMG, I love that...I was thinking the same exact thing!
do I feel that way every day...NO, but overall...yes I do.
Puts it in perspective. I too feel grateful for what I have and who in mylife, what I can do and have done. But deep down Cf makes us not normal. Someone that does not live with a chronic illness gets on with their life, they take the day to day for granted. Go to work, have kids, vacation and hopefully live life happily. I have a huge disadvantage that keeps me from really accomplishing what I want in life. I struggle daily with meds, food, insulin, treatments, coughing and feeling not so hot on the whim of my health. I work harder and push myself more than most people but there is just the cold hard fact that I have to put my health first and thats that and it gets in the way. I lead a normal happy life but what we need is just a small improvement in the CFTR to make our life more "normal".

I feel I do live a ''normal'' life. I work full time, married for 10 wonderful years, have an amazing 6 year old son, ran a marathon (and many other races ,) completed a tri-athlon, enjoy my life, Love Jesus, and I have CF. One thing that bothers me - why can someone with CF drive a semi? I don't get it... I want to drive a semi now! I may just do that! Luci32/cf/female
I live a blessed life. I dont consider it normal or abnormal. I just live every day and thankful when I awake to live another one.
