doctors never listen

they have me on the lantus 2wice a day and then the sliding scale...but i've asked the doctors to put me on a carb count and they wont do it all he keeps telling me is "we can fix it with the sliding scale", but its not keeping them down, today they went back up to over 500 and i had no sweets or anything i wasnt suppose to have, it really suxx that they wont listen to me about it..it dont help im not gaining weight either, and i do take supplements to help with it.

Tough situation, likely your illness is contributing to your hyperglycemia. With your weight loss and everything, I can see where your doc is coming from. Generally, in people with CF it's better to stick with a regular diet (or close to it)and cover with insulin. Do they have you on steroids as part of your tune up? Those can really screw with your BSG, esp in addition to being sick.

as far as i know of they dont have me on any steroids...but the sugars are just going crazzie lol...i bottom out and then they shoot back up fast..

I'm Bill, a 69 yo male with CF. Get a e-mail address from ur CF specialist and give it to your local Doctor. Let them co-ordinate ur care. If your local Dr. wont co-operate, GET A NEW LOCAL DR.
