Does anyone recognize these symptoms: Sometimes in the mornings, I get a burning sensation in my head, I lose all energy in my body, it blackens before my eyes, and my hearing is disminished. I need to lay down and rest and then it subsides. I am not sure if this is CF related, oranxiety related. Normally when I get this, I got one this moring, the last one was in summer, is when I am thinking too much and get anxious.

To me, it sounds like a panic attack. I had episodes of them a few years back and thats just how I'd describe it.
However, I'm sure would say it could be related to sugars. I don't have cfrd so I can't speak for that.
Gunhild,

As far as I know, that isn't something related to CF. It actually sounds more like a migraine. I don't have trouble hearing when I get a migraine, but I do have all of the other things--"spotty" vision and sometimes darkness around the outsides of my vision; weakness and tingling in my hands and face; inability to speak well.

I don't get them on a regular basis, but they just come on suddenly and randomly. Mine are more frequent in the summer and when I have my period.

Although it sounds horrible and is a bit scary, it's not really that unusual. There are some different medications you can take to help that "aura" pass more quickly.

If you continue to have these episodes, though, I do think it would be wise to see a doctor about it to be sure there isn't another problem.

could be a hundred things...try and watch for patterns. Do you notice it happens immediately upon sitting up or getting up from bed? If so, do you have a way to check your blood pressure?

Thanks for replying all, it does sound horrible but it's not thaaat bad, I know it will pass when it happens. The pattern is that is happens in the mornings... but not straight after getting up (too fast). It's like I want to faint but don't, have never fainted. I got my blood work back a few days ago, and all was good, except I have too low vitamin D.

Today I have a headache, so could be a migrane thing, although I usualy don't suffer from this. Regarding my overthinking, I do that a lot, and not always do I get this "attack" that I got this morning, so I don't know. It's just the burning sensation in my head that's very uncomfortable.

Further ideas would be apreciated

I have CFRD and to me it could be high blood sugars. I get a headache. My face gets flushed and feel like I need to lay down and sleep if they're high. It could be anything though. Check with your CF Dr. Everyone is different. When I get anxiety attacks my heart starts racing and I get very edgy. Hope you figure it out. good luck.

A headache that only occurs in the morning should be checked out by your doctor! Let him/her know next time you speak to them.

Good luck and feel better!

I started going through what your describing about ten years ago. I thought it was low blood sugar too. I was so scared. It turned out it was a good old fashioned panic attack. They would happen suddely and go away in about 15 minutes...for me the residual after effects were terrible....they would last for hours. It was not low blood sugar.

This used to happen to me when I was in high school. Always in the morning. Additionally I would get clammy as well. Laid down, felt better around 15 minutes later. The symptoms you describe sound like what happens right before you faint, however as you said, you do not faint. Not sure if it's something serious. Mine just stopped happening and only happened occasionally as well. People also told me it might be anxiety related, as others have told you.

All the above posts are good advise. I have CRFD and this sounds like a blood sugar issue from that perspective. Not just low blood sugar, but quick swings in either direction can cause the same symptoms, and quick swings happen most often in the morning.

The migraine idea also has merit - and many migraines are related to muscle tension. Are your neck and back muscles overly tight? Do you sit at a computer for long times?

Panic attack? Absolutely possible. Are you under a lot of stress or worry, or recently gone through a life-changing event? I agree with Havoc to look for patterns. Then try altering one thing at a time. Get a good deep tissue massage focusing on your back and neck and see if that helps. Order one of those free glucose monitors that are advertised on TV and check your blood sugars when you feel this happening. Talk to your doctors but always remember that you know your body better than any of them do. You MUST be your own health advocate.

Let us know what you find out.
