does lack of sleep really affect us?

I totally agree with everyone. If I don't get enough sleep, I get run down, I can't fight off infections, etc etc. It's like a downward spiral for me.

Yep. I'm experiencing this now with my just getting off IV's.. I love how you have to wake up extra early and stay up extra late to do these.. It's ironic. The iv's are supposed to make us better, but if we're losing sleep in the process.??????

My health has a direct corelationship to sleep... I need when I am healthy and feeling my best.. ( which I don't remember what that feeling is) but on average 10 hours a sleep a night..

When I am sick, fighting something or not myself totally.. I need 12 plus hours a night and a nap everyday.. I can sleep for a few hours a day with a nap.

I can tell you my mood is affected majorly.. I become drama queen when I don't have enough sleep..everything is blown way out of proportion in my mind, things seem so worse, I feel worse... and my emotional guard come down and I let my mind go crazy with crazy throughts..

I am most protective of my sleep, above anything else.. even my treatments because I know that for me that has the biggest impact on me......

haven't read what others say, but your immune system can decrease and inflammation can increase when u don't sleep. Both of those items affect lung function tremendously!
