does lack of sleep really affect us?

Sleep is a tough one for me, and really comes down to balance.

I need at least 7.5 hours a night to function well, and feel very tired if I get less than that, especially if its for 2-3 days in a row. However, if I get more than 9, I wake up feeling SO junky and congested, and it is much harder for me to get clear during morning CPT and HS.

Does anyone else feel "bad" when they get too much sleep? How much is too much for you?

Yep. I'm experiencing this now with my just getting off IV's.. I love how you have to wake up extra early and stay up extra late to do these.. It's ironic. The iv's are supposed to make us better, but if we're losing sleep in the process.??????</end quote></div>

I was fanatical about doing my meds exactly as prescribed, but my sleep was suffering. So I learned to adjust more according to my sleep. My meds every 8 hours are more like every 6 hours, Tobra still is every 12 hours.

It seemed silly to be sure to do the meds as scheduled if my health suffered from poor sleep. In the hospital it was fine because someone else took care of the doses.

I don't know if anyone has addrssed this yet; but, you need to get that child back on a schedule!!!! Yes, I think you already know from the posts that sleep affects your lungs. There is a great book out there called "healthy sleep, happy child". Get something that teaches you how to get a child on a good sleep schedule. It could be teething; but, it could also be other things (ie. hungry, scared, knows mom will come and get<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">. I don't know if you are breastfeeding?? Your milk might not be sufficient at this point and you may need to be introducing a greater variety of foods for her. I think my daughter needed more than my breastmilk at a certain point and she had some major sleep issues. Also, as a new parent, I never wanted her to cry, duhhhh! I would not make that choice again. It is not the end of the world if they cry themselves to sleep, within reason, and learn to comfort themselves at night. It helps them get on a schedule. I hope you work this out soon!!
