I am! I was DX at 12 because I weighed 48 pounds. They had tested for everything else so they thought the would give CF a try. I have no family history of it so we were very surprised with the results. I was very healthy until my mid 20's. FEV1 were over 90%. I didn't start any preventative stuff until I was 19. I didn't know there was stuff to do. I was extremely healthy. Of course, things change. I am now 31 and My FEV1 are around 55%. I do tons of preventative stuff now. My FEV1 was around 35% 2 years ago. I got them up and have been staying pretty steady in the 50s. I strive to get them higher but nothing seems to be working. All I can do is try!

Garran is DDF508. He hs been considered a "serious" case since birth. Has had lung issues and pancreatic issues since birth. right now he is got PFT's at 53% and his O2 sats range on a good day aroung 93%- 94%. he is about to the 25th percentile for height and weight and has a G-tube and a port a cath. he is 6 years old and weighs 44 pounds and is 46 inches tall so far.....

For the record, although they say that if both parents are carriers one in four children will have CF and out of the other four maybe two will be carriers blahh blahh blahh......... All my other three children carry DF508..........

No they don't say one in four children will have CF.

They say that there is a 1 in 4 chance each child will have CF. 1 in 2 chance each child will be a carrier. And 1 in 4 chance they won't have the gene at all.

There is a huge difference.

It's like flipping a coin. Each outcome of a coin flip is not influenced by the previous coin flip's outcome......

I know that Amy, I was basically saying that the coin seemed to flip on the same side every time since all my kids are carriers. I know the odds of gene coding too....I guess I just didnt phrase it the right way.
