Here's a new issue I encountered this past week (besides Zeke's hospital stay)... I had Zeke in for an appointment due to his being sick and was standing at the check in window at clinic. Out comes a lady and her 10 yr old daughter and almost immediately this mother comes over and leans down towards Zeke in his carrier and is about to stick her hand in his carrier to touch his face!
I snatched the carrier up fast and said. "Please don't touch him, he's got CF and he's sick". To my surprise her daughter turns to me and says "I've got CF" and starts to lean down towards Zeke. Her mom just said "Aw... he probably just wants to breathe." I moved him in front of me and told them he wasn't sick with lung stuff yet. She finally got the hint and told her daughter to go stand across the room.
How do you politely get the message across that you don't want your kid messed with without having to explain all the time? It surprised me that a CF parent would just walk over and stick her hands in his carrier without even asking or thinking!
