I do the same thing Debbie does (again same office)I have Savannah wait in the car until it is her turn. They don't like it but I'm not putting Savannah at any more risk than need be.

Oh my goodness, this is so crazy.... I am so over protected,,,and I do not regret being this way..It has certainly rubbed off on Makailyn, at 2 1/2 years old she could sterile handwash her hands better than some doctors I've seen..I use papertowls like crazy,,keep them in the kitchen and bathroom..There's no way to be able to sterile handwash without them,,,and to this day she never misses washing her hands correctly...I always have bacterial wipes with me also, for just in case situations.

It's funny,,, and she did this on her own. But when we are in the car ,she sits in one place,,and won't allow any of her cousins to sit in her place in the car, because she doesn't want them touching her seatbelt,or getting thier germs on her things..Now don't get me wrong, she's still a child that loves to dig in the dirt for snails,and worms.Which freaks me out,, because I have heard that soil can cause bad pathogens...But, she will wash up right away,,(but I still panic)....

Her pedi's office is more cautious about Makailyn catching something than the CF clinic..When we sign in at the pedi's office,, an automatic ALERT shows up and they take her back right away..AT the CF clinic,, they act like it's no big deal...I wonder if they even wipe down the room after each child.. I have seen web views alot about germs and what the CF clinic's should be doing,, and if you come in contact with another CF child. On one view that I watched which came from the head Cystic Fibrosis Center,, they were saying ,,' just nod and wave',,and kept reinforcing that... I was impressed with someone saying in their clinic the kids always wear masks,,which I have always felt they should also...

I think that talking and reading the post and my own experince,, it looks like most CF clincs do not follow the standard guidelines regarding germs...Which is very sad,,when KNOWING that germs play one of the biggest issues on their health...I wish there were some way that the accredited CF clinics were made to follow the guidelines.....

PS,, the picture below is Makailyn's good friend Rocky,, and he takes her socks off for her...

I have a small sign that reads "Please wash your hands before touching mine." I got mine from when my twins were dischanged from the NICU. I have the red signs (I attached a picture below)- very hard to miss! You can order them from this website.

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://mytinyhands.com/shopping/store.htm
">http://mytinyhands.com/shopping/store.htm
</a>

Also I know if you sign up for the synagis "Helping Hand" program (it's free - just some information on synagis) they send you a free red sign. I don't know how long it would take to receive though.

I LOVE this sign and highly recommend it. I have one on each of their carriers and on their stroller. Everyone who comes to look at them sees the sign and backs up. I've never had a problem with someine reaching in to try and touch them.
