I would freak at this situation. I can't believe that the mother didn't stop her kid immediately from going over to the carrier. As PP said as a breed we know how careful we need to be.

I agree that a blanket over your carrier sends a good message that you don't want people in his face. I agree that you don't need to apologize or hesitate to tell people to back off.

I feel the same way about my son who does not have CF. I had him covered up at the grocery store and a lady asked to take a peek at him. So, I said sure and uncovered his head. Then, she asked if she could touch him. I told her flat out no. I said that we had had enough issues this year with sickness.

A parent of a CFer should know better. If they were that careless, I'd be rude if I had to to protect my child.

Good for you! Never feel bad when you are protecting your child!

As far as the mother...it is all about education. She has not educated herself on this disease. She should be protecting her child as well by not touching other kids in a dr office. Shame on her!
