drinking alcohol

alcohol definitely slows my resp rate and tightens my chest via dehydration. It also thins my blood making me more prone to bleeds. the slower, shallower breaths can give the lung bugs a chance to get a leg up. I no longer drink unless I'm home and doing lung care while drinking to negate the negative effects...hardly worth it. I enbibe in Veuve around every 6 months...thats about it.

Drinking alcohol dehyrates me. If I have a lot to drink I will wake up the next day feeling like I have cement in my lungs. It sucks out the moisture from the mucus in the lungs and throughout, hence dry mouth. I rarely drink. My doctor told me that one fun night out drinking (obviously in excess) can mean a trip to the ICU the next day.

Well, there's always quality of life vs quantity, and we all work very hard to give ourselves some quality of life. Once in a while enjoying alcohol in moderation can be a personal choice that becomes possible because we work so hard and probably goes with the first category. And in all honesty won't really do damage either if you keep using your head.

Don't do it daily.. don't drink heavy when on heavy antibiotics (because weird things start happening) , or when pretty sick. Don't step out in the cold afterwards, don't overendulge in eating crappy food while drinking, don't hang around smoking people while you drink, etc. Obvious stuff. Maybe stay away from hard liquor but limit yourself to beer / wine because it's hard to drink a lot of that.
--> Drink as much water afterwards as you drank alcoholic drinks and you won't have any problems with dehydration. <-- That's a simple rule of thumb and it works well.

In small amounts I find my breathing kinda relaxes and I don't need to cough as much. In large amounts I quickly go nausea and start to breathe rather fast. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> But I do not hold alcohol well so..

I notice your username, according to studies alcohol doesn't really affect musclegrowth as some of the myths and ghoststories will let people think, it certainly doesn't take any mass away or undo a week's training. Just don't drink on the same day after heavy weightlifting, and you obviously won't lift as heavy the day after heavy drinking either because your body is trying to get rid of it and you probably didn't sleep as much. Other then that the differences are neglectable and again working on your health hard makes it possible that we do some of this once in a while in the first place.

Don't forget to enjoy life. Take risks sometimes, live. What enjoyments vs drawbacks are wanted and worth it to each is upto each to balance out and decide.

What the hell is that spermcount post, CF males aren't really going to worry about that much.

OMG, I'm laughing my ass off about the sperm count post... sounds like an advertisment for ED medication... I won't be surprised if we hear from them again about some drug recommendation LOL
