Yeah its true, but underage drinking in Ireland is a BIG problem. Having 12 and 13 year olds getting wasted at the weekends, heh. In my hospital, a few years ago there was a NINE year old who came into the casulty because he broke his arm ( cas he was drunk!)
Its pretty much accepted to drink once you're like 15 or 16.

Tolerance depends on a lot of things. Mine is very high. At 5'7'' 110lbs I could out drink most people. But I don't like to drink and get all messed up. I like my liver too much. Started drinking at 11 though and the longer you drink the more you can drink. Don't drink too much. Drinking won't fix any problems though that is why I started.

I have a pretty high tolerance too. I'm 5'3", 125 lbs and can out drink most of my friends that are bigger than I am. I always thought it had something to do with not absorbing the alcohol. If I don't absorb vitamins and nutrients from food, why should alcohol be any different? Does that make sence?

bottoms up!

It is a cf-type thing. The few times i drank, the same thing happened. Once it was with Vodka. Another time it was in Mongolia with something they called rice wine (It was a lot like vodka) Mongolians are big drinkers, so they have a high tolerance, but I was handling it better than they were (it's their custom to do toasts or something with shot glasses, and they kept raising their glasses toward me! I think they were just trying to get me drunk. I did a little bit, of course, but not really that much.) The only time i got really drunk was when someone shared a Jim Bean with me (That's the right name, right? If it's not, oh well, it was whiskey.) I had to drink a LOT, though. That's the only time I've ever had to throw up because of it.

its got to do with what kind of tolerance you have developed [alcoholics can drink alot before they can feel anything], how much youve eaten and what youve eaten, how you space your drinks, what you drink and what you use to drink it with, how much non alco drinks you drink in between if any at all, height, weight, how fast you drink it, how fast your stomach empties, i could go on and on...

buts its a definate that it has nothing to do with cf. if anything, wed have a lower tolerance due to poorer liver function and lower body weight and height. so dont go downing 10 beers cause you think cf gave you magical boozey powers

I don't believe so many CF'ers have a high tolerance. They may say they do. But who's to say they haven't been drinking for years as many people start so young now. Maybe they had a heavy meal, just like Kylie said. I know if I have a meal right before I drink it takes a few drinks but if I eat a light meal it doesn't take that many. Don't go out seeing how much you can drink. That's silly and irresponsible. If I drink Tequila, as I said before it does nothing for me. Becky Cf/in mich
