eclipse balls for tobra?

Ok, talked to the nurse and pharmacists at the home care company. They said that they can't put that concentration of tobra (500 mg) in an eclipse. They said studies haven't been done for that concentration and for it to work it would need a liter of fluid!

I'm not quite sure I understand it. Since we already have the other pump, its not worth the fight. Maybe next time.

Wow, Jane is that correct--500 mg of Tobramycin? I know they always check my levels and anything over 140mg/ml and my labs show I am at risk for toxicity. Are they checking their peak and troughs after every third dose? I think I would recommend that if they are not. I just know the doctor is always concerned about my hearing and liver function when I am on it which is quite often. I do know that everyone's bodies are different though so maybe your sons can tolerate more than I can but still you don't want the tobra causing more problems.

Oh by the way I do always get mine in the balls .

Yes, that's what it said on the paperwork 500 mg every 24 hours for Josh 430 for Jesse. And yes they are checking levels every third dose. Thanks for verifying.

I'm pretty sure I had 500 mg last time once a day (according to my doc, once a day with a higher dose has been found to be less damaging to the kidneys than a continual dose every so many hours)...

anyway, I did get that high dosage in a ball and it ran in fine and my levels were always fine. So, not sure where they're getting their information. Is there another pharmacy you could verify this with? Although I suppose if you have to hang a med anyway and are ok with hanging tobra, that is fine. Just seems strange as I've done a very high dosage once a day with the ball before.
