Update - MRSA is GONE! Bye-Bye!

Gina,
I think it sounds like a great idea to start the Bactrim in addition to the Cipro and the Tobi. Maybe it is the MRSA flaring up. I just think it is so difficult to know what is causing the issues.

Has she been on oral Zyvox before for her MRSA? That worked great for Kayla in the past. Actually it worked better than IV Vanc for her. It tastes terrible, but worked wonders and no hospitalization<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

If she isn't better after trying the three she is on now, then maybe it is time for IV meds.

I don't blame you for being upset with her dr. I would be livid. I do not understand why he would tell you it is okay to skip things. Do you have the opportunity to interview other CF dr. for her CF care?

I'm sorry she is not feeling any better...keep us updated.

I am so sorry for this huge mistake. The only advice I can come up with is to get a second opinion from another CF docotor, maybe another CF doctor from another CF clinic even. At this point, I would also request copies of all reports (blood work, cultures, pft's, etc).

I hope she is feeling better soon.

I always request culture reports be sent to me, as well as doctor's notes, labs, etc. from the local cf doctor. Too many times, IF I've gotten a call from the nurse, there is no mention of culturing something, only to find from the reports that DS IS and they just decide because they're not going to treat it, not to mention it to us.
