eFlow and Tobra

Lisa-my clinic is in the exact same mindset. The message they brought back from the conference was that there was a consensus (at least among their group) that they could not with reasonable certainty feel the safety and equivalency of the tobra vs tobi had been proven although they were presented with and aware of all the studies done. The colistin fiasco was just an extra nail in the coffin so to speak, I believe.

In additoin the big thing making my clinic uneasy is that there are so many docs around country 'shooting form hip' so to speak with the doses etc of the tobra they are rx'ing.

They also mentioned that the group they were speakign with at the conference feel that the enw antibiotic that is going thorugh clinic trils with e-flow (thus all the safety and efficacy data will be based on e-flow and not extrapolated based on a small study like the tobra and e-flow) is very promising. The med is doing so well and will be rx with e-flow so they woudl rather just wait for that and while I cant remember the name medicine etc thye were hoping for 2008 on that one.

again-this is just waht my clinic believed to be presented at the conference and in the discussions they were involved in.

Lisa I was told the exact same thing, word for word. I argued that before TOBI existed, I mixed my own tobra and guess what? I didn't get kidney failure. I also argued that we already have to mix our own Colistin - I argued about 6 times, but finally convinced my doc to let me have the eFlow (but only for Colistin, *sigh*). Of course, this was while I was in the hospital and he'll probably have forgotten he agreed, so I'll have to start all over with the arguments at the next clinic visit.

I tried to print the info on Amy (Sakasuka)'s page, but it was really difficult to see. I think I'm going to print out this thread and bring it to him, haha.
