Okay, I read the blog...A couple more questions: When using it in the car, does that mean only do it in areas where we can pop into a public restroom right away to rinse it (what is the time there? Can I put in alcohol or water to keep the med from drying until I get in the restroom?)?

And can I get the eFlow free from cf foundation if I don't do my inhaled antibiotics on a regular schedule? I just do them when I'm sick...

I first heard about the eFlow in connection with a drug study, but I've heard the most about it here. If you want to know more, do read Amy's blog- it's very informative, and has pics, too .

Oh, and Amy, actually your blog did answer the multiple meds question- it was the link to the eFlow manual that I put up that didn't .

I don't know about washing. I know you're supposed to ASAP. Especially with the hypertonic saline. Apparently the HTS has a higher rate of clogging it, so the sooner you can rinse away the salt, the better. I honestly don't know how long the "grace period" would be.

As for getting it, I don't know. I got mine from Foundation Care (not the CF Pharmacy) for free, but I'm on 3 nebs regularly. Pulmozyme every day, Colistin every other month and HTS on the non-Colistin months. I don't see why you couldn't ask for one if you order Colistin (or TOBI, I think) from that pharmacy. It's not like you have to order one all the time, so I don't think the regular use would make a difference. But I'm not sure, you'd have to check.

I meant Foundation Care *slaps forehead*! I guess I'll email them about that and get it straight from the horse's mouth. . I also read something about free HTS...I'll ask them about what all that involves, too, and if they take my insurance, too. I only neb pulmozyme, Xopenex and now HTS everyday.

Of course, I'm on my second week of Colistin right now, so hopefully it will be a while before I order it (or Tobi, Tobra, whichever it is they give you with the eFlow) again. I'll ask about that, too.

What is foundation care?? I'm always looking for help getting all of my extremely expensive meds if someone knows something I don't.

I hadn't heard of it before I came here, either! Apparently my clinic has, but has never mentioned it to me (I was looking for premixed HTS, and they didn't mention Foundation Care). When I went in with my vial to mix my HTS for my first treatment, the respiratory nurse looked at me and said that she hadn't had someone have to mix it in the vial, yet... Sometimes I wonder...*rolls eyes*

I'll see if I can find you the link .

Here it is: http://foundcare.com/index.html

I'll have to see if they can help me. I live in WI. Thanks for the link. Why did you have to mix your own HTS? My pharmacy wasn't able to mix it for me because I guess it needs to be mixed under a hood, but I was able to get it from Children's Hospital.

The pharmacy that is in the outpatient clinic complex where my clinic is doesn't even carry HTS. I don't know about the Children's Hospital Pharmacy. The CF Services Pharmacy sends it in the 10% and .9% to mix in a vial for 7%, and that is the only way I have found to get it locally, either (now I use a local pharmacy- it's cheaper ). It was an aggravation to mix it at first, but now I have 2 measuring vials, so I throw them in with the nebs at the end of the day and don't have to worry about forgetting to sterilize it and waiting on it, etc. Now it's no big deal .
