Hey AJ, what about pulmozyne? Have you tried that. It might be the HS, apparently not everyone tolerates it well. D is doing really well on pulmozyne <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

AJ, Have you submitted a recent sputum culture? Personally I would only start abx that I knew had sensitivity against the bugs I was growing.

Have you done pfts since this cough increase? Analysis of the numbers by the doc may be able to help distingquish exacerbation from other flair up.

When you describe your cough on here (and to your doctor) it's better to use terms like more frequent and more productive than just saying my cough is bad. You do go on to describe that your coughing more junk than usual which is helpful. Also that you are SOB. Has the color of your mucus changed? Consistancy? These are the things that are helpful in us understanding your situation.

I'm excited for you but also sad you won't be able to participate in the V770 trial with me :) They definitely won't allow you to take an experimental drug while pregnant...nor would you probably want to risk your babe in that manner.

The doctor has probably already told you this but at 11 weeks there is no possiblity of the baby putting a strain on your lungs causing this exacerbation. You could already be suffering from exaustion (very common in 1st trimester) which could set you up for a flair up. Or you could have lost weight from nausousness which again could set you up for a flair up. Finally, all the hormonal changes going on in your body could be having an impact on your lungs perhaps?

Please, please keep as active during pregnancy as you were before pregnancy. I worked out high impact aerobics class up until 38 weeks and was on the treadmill until the end. Feel free to PM me.

I used HTS, and zithro my entire preg.
I had a very bad exacerbation during my 3rd trimester and I went on abx orally, but i honestly don't remember which one.
I went on prednisone too, and it helped so much. Prednisone is very safe during preg. infact they'll often give it to moms at premature risk bc it helps the baby's lungs develop properly.

I wish i could remember which abx i took-but i know my doc is extremely cautious about drugs during preg and bf.-like, crazy cautious. So i'm sure whatever i took was very mild. she focused more on prednisone bc my cough was so asthmatic, and less 'sick'.
I did not take tobi during preg. Tobi is not reccomended for preg, but i know of a few moms that did it with no problems. It was a personal choice and decided not to.
