another thought A is stress, stress with concerns over your pregnancy, and other stuff (working too hard?). Can you have some time off and rest a bit?
And...the HS might be causing an inflammatory reaction (negative) but working in the positive to bring up junk (does that make sense?).

Have you stopped the HS? Sorry I forgot what you said about that

And, dont feel like a failure, you're doing the best you can, women without cf have issues during their prenancies too,

Update...

So I started on the Zithro, seeing how many of you took it, and with my own research, it should be OK. I think that with the zithro I will be less likely to have a major exascerbation and need IVs, which I definately want to avoid.

Having stopped the HTS I am feeling alot less tight in the chest, so I think it's safe to say that most of the SOB was coming from that, and the ventolin is helping too.

The cough actually came from a cold I had when I was about two weeks PG. I always have an exascerbation after a cold, but didn't get to address it straight away as I usually would because we've just moved to a new city and I had trouble getting into the clinic (long story...). By the time I did I was 7 weeks PG and the Dr wanted to be cautious.

I am still coughing much, much more than usual, and it is more productive, so I started on the abx too. Cipro is a category B3 now, and research to date has shown no problems with bub from taking it while PG. The tobra (not TOBI) is in the neb, so very little will reach my bloodstream.

I have a feeling this could get very bad if I don't do something now, and it would have to be worse to do tobra via IV later when I am really sick than tobra via neb now.

Hopefully this will all work and I might avoid worse problems later.

Hi AJ,

Yeah, I think you're right on the money with everything you said. I was also worried about having a little exacerbation turn into a big one. So I wanted to see if I could great it with oral and inhaled meds and avoid IVs at all costs. I know that there are safe IVs for women who are pregnant, but I just didn't want to take the risk. I am on inhaled tobra via eFlow (not Tobi) almost non-stop; I do 3 weeks on/1 week off. I did not stop that regimen while I was pregnant because I get sick the instant I am off it. So for the 1 week I am off, I usually go downhill a bit and then I come back to baseline during my 3 week son. My OB tried to get me to stop it but I told him that the alternative would be IV's then. But I did have a real exacerbation at 4 months pregnant. I inhaled colistin and it took care of the problem. Zithro is also safe to take during pregnancy and I took that late in my pregnancy for a sinus infection.

Hope you start feeling better soon. And you should also look into the asthma component thing as well because that might be an issue for you.

I am definately feeling much better now after over a week on abx - the infection seems to be clearing nicely.

Now that the exascerbation is under control I can feel that my asthma is definately worse than usual. I feel tighter alot of the time and seem more sensitive to triggers like fragrance etc. I don't think the zithro has had a chance to fully come into effect yet, so hoping that will help some.

Just wondering if there is anything apart from prednisone that I can take to treat inflammation? As I said, I am already taking zithro and I am also on seretide.

Ideas anyone??
