like you i am trying to get back into exercising! i like to be outside and there are some great parks and trails near where i'm living so i usually try and get out and walk/run a little at least 3 times a week. unfortunately its been in the 20s and snowing so that has definitely put a damper on my efforts! i'm hoping at least the snow will clear out soon....

another idea that someone mentioned is exercise tapes. thats a great idea for getting started at home with minimal equipment. when i was younger my mom used to make me do exercise tapes with her--she had all the richard simmons workout videos hahahahahahaha anyway.....now she doesn't have time with work to get consistently to a gym so she uses the fitness channel (they have satellite) and works out at home with that. she bought some small free weights and an exercise ball and loves it! they have yoga and pilates and stuff like that on that channel too. maybe you can call your cable or satellite provider and see what channel that is and if you get it b/c that might be a good way to get started.

good luck!

also having some great music doesn't hurt so make a mix of all your favorite upbeat songs <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I am an exercise buff and I have come to the rescue. I do go to the gym, but since you don't want to waste the money here are some things I do at home:

Wii fit- doing the aerobics things helps to increase my heartrate and helps me cough up stuff

Jump- Jumping helps to shake ANYTHING out of your lungs. If you don't have a jump rope then just jump in place slowly, then fastly, then side to side, then on one foot, then do foot fires, then jumping jacks and repeat. Or if you have a trampoline jump on that.

Zumba- I just started doing zumba in a class, but there are DvDs you can get to do in your house. Just google Zumba, or search on Amazon. Its a intense afro-latin dance that gets you sweating without making you breathe too heavy, but it does increase your heartrate. I love it, its fun too!

Comcast- if you have comcast cable, there are free exercise programs on demand, do a cardio one

Dance- put on some techno music and just dance for a half hour, this is my favorite type of exercise!

Hope I helped get going!

Fitness DVDS and a yoga mat! There are lots of ways to mix it up so you don't get bored. I also do like Skye and walk outdoors if it is 40 degrees or above. I jog outdoors if my allergies allow and it is 55-80 degrees.

Do you have a 24 Hour fitness??? We are working on getting 24 hour fitnes to work with us on memberships for people with Cystic Fibrosis... In fact if you have an extra minute I have been try ing to collect letters from people about it... As far as the financial struggles we are faced with and how important exercise is... so if you have a minute, send me an email sarah@breathe4tomorrow.org...
I will keep you all posted!!!
