This was a HUGE hit with my kids pretty much from the time they could hold a crayon.

I still have this LOL!

Just Kidding!

I dont have much to offer except that Jazz did have it "slightly" just during routine visits to the doctors at the same age. She knew the turn onto the street & the sight of the building put her into tears.

Of course, a CFer at that age would be more difficult!

Our son began doing the same thing around 18mo and has only recently improved at a little over 3. His CF resume reads a lot like your kiddo's (same mutation, MI, pseudo, staph a). My mother, who works in medicine but not w/CF, mentioned that she sees similar behavior in pediatric heart and cancer patients when they come in for routine checkups - and we wondered if he, like them, had simply been though so much at such a young age that he was becoming distrought at the sight of the Dr's office. I'm sure there's also an age factor as others have said.

These things helped for us:
1) priming him for days in advance that we were going to see his 'friend' Dr. so-and-so in a few days,
2) having him tag along to my wife's prenatal appointments (and more recently his brother's well-baby check ups) to allow exposure to a medical enviroment without being poked and prodded - to build up benign familiarity, and
3) following more invasive appointments - getting pizza out and a trip to the store for a big boy toy

It took a while before we saw improvement so be patient - he still freaks with sputum cultures and some probing but has improved a ton from a year ago. Good luck!

OOOHH I can so relate! I have a 16 month old that hates appts as well. She is getting better, but I still pull my hair back in a pony tail and wear something sweat proof to the dr appts!

Here is what we have been working on:

1. When she gets weighed, measured, etc we have the nurse blow bubbles. It is Avery's fav thing.
2. During the weigh in/thermometer I talk to her and tell her nothing bad is going to happen
3. We have a stethescope we play with at home. I listen to her, she listens to me.
4. I ask the dr to have Avery touch and play with the stethascope before he starts.
5. I take her to my dr appts and talk her through them.

Good luck and let me know if you find anything that works for you!
