My issue with cousins, etc. not testing is that there are several cousins with "asthma", productive coughs, when they get colds it always turns to bronchitis in the family who we're concerned with.

And when DH's cousin was planning to have another child and inquired about carrier testing, she couldn't find anyone who'd test her -- kept getting told they didn't know and would refer her elsewhere or the head of the local cf program went so far as to ask why she'd want to do it -- as "it was expensive and probably not covered by insurance"

So you are concerned that some cousins may have cf rather than whether they are carriers? I guess all you can do is put the idea out there and hope someone is listening! Which they're not a lot of the time.
