Feeding my almost 9m old

I would LOVE to continue BF but she just isn't interested. If I try to get her to BF she pulls away and arches her back, but then will down a bottle. It is a fight to even try anymore. I think with this ongoing teething, with no teeth to show, is partially to blame. The only time I can get her to nurse is in the middle of the night when she is groggy and even then it is hard to get her to do it sometimes. It is really emotional for me to even talk about it. I workedso hard, and dealt with all the negativity from ALL of her doctors about it. Then being condescending to me for continuing to BF. I don't want to give it completely up that is why I am just pumping and supplementing the bottles with formula.

I have tried fenugreek, oatmeal, water, pumping like crazy, nothing.

I knew that BM was higher cal but it doesn't seem like her dietician really cares... it is all about numbers <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">

So we used higher calorie formula -- more powder to water ratio. I'd leave clinic appointments feeling like a failure despite a good weight and number of calories he got.

Also, the best times to feed him were when he was sleepy or sleeping. He was calmer, we were calmer. Because he lost so much weight during his nicu stay we were instructed to feed him every 3-4 hours and I think sometimes he just wasn't hungry.

Also know that 9 months old they are VERY distracted so they will not nurse as long. My daughter would nurse for no more than 10 minutes around that time - yet would get around 2-3 in a feed just fine. And now she can get 2 oz within 4 minutes flat lol. There is alot of time spent putting the baby back on around that age. Have you had her checked for an ear infection? Or try some orejel before you nurse.

The only thing you can do is to pump more. Also ask the doc about a pill to raise supply. I was given reglan. It worked great. The only way to get more milk is more breast stimulation. But if you continue the way you are the amount of cals is probably just fine.

I have thought about the Reglan but one of the side effects is depression and I don't need any help in that area! I haven't had her checked for an ear infection, but I guess we will find out on Monday! There has been a few ear tugs but nothing much and she is still her happy self, even w/o naps!
